NIHL National Owners Group Agree Key 2022/23 Season Structure
Last week the NIHL National Owners Group met to agree the key principles and structure of the 2022/23 NIHL National season. We welcomed Bristol Pitbulls to the call, attending their first Owners Group meeting. The key points agreed were: The league will comprise 10 teams (following the addition of Bristol). NIHL FINAL FOUR TICKET DETAILS CONFIRMED – MKL BLOCK ON SALE WEDS 2nd MARCH AT 10AM
The National Ice Hockey League is pleased to confirm ticket prices and sale details for the season finale at Coventry on April 30 and May 1. Tickets are priced at £55 for adults, £41 for senior citizens and £27 for children and will be on sale from Wednesday March 2nd. Prior to general sales going live, on March 1st Planet Ice box office staff will contact those supporters who had their tickets from 2020's Finals held over to determine their requirements. Valentine’s Shirts 2022 – from the MKL Supporters’ Club
This Saturday we will be fundraising for the team with a difference! You are going to LOVE getting involved in the Shirt Raffle. After a discussion with our shirt supplier and taking into consideration the state of play with replica shirt orders etc, we have decided to go ahead with the Valentines shirts. Usually during a season we would offer our very popular own & loan scheme for Christmas, charity shirts etc etc..all of which raise valuable income for the club. Ice hockey is a game where there’s a lot of heat out on the ice, part of the reason we all love it, and we want it to remain out there and not in the stands. Claire Eason-Bassett Steps Down from AIB MKL Board
Having taken a sabbatical since last November from her role as Milton Keynes Ice Hockey Club CEO, we are sad to share that Claire Eason-Bassett has now stepped down from her role for personal reasons. Day to day operations of the club will continue under the leadership of Tom, Jon and Cliff as it has since the start of Claire’s period of leave. There is no change to shareholding or ownership of the Club or its company structure. He brings with him a dynamic, speedy style and has averaged a point per game in the NIHL this season so far. Please welcome Morgan Clarke-Pizzo who joins us on a two way contract with Nottingham Panthers. 22 year old Morgan was born in Peterborough and spent his early years in the Peterborough junior system before making a switch to Nottingham. After that he headed across the pond for 4 seasons in Canada and USA, with Ontario Hockey Academy, Syracuse and Utica. It was in his season with Utica in 2019/20 where he really found his points scoring groove, picking [...]
NIHL National Cup Semi-Finals – Dates, Details and Ticketing
The NIHL National Cup Semi-Final dates are now confirmed. Swindon chose to play Sheffield, so your All In Black MK Lightning will play Telford Tigers. The home leg will be played on Thursday 3rd February at 8pm, with the away leg played the following Wednesday the 9th February at 7:45pm. Zaine McKenzie to leave All In Black MK Lightning
We’ve been talking with Zaine McKenzie for the last couple of weeks and we are sad to share that he will be leaving All In Black MK Lightning today. He joined us at the start of the season and made 23 league appearances picking up a goal along the way. He also made his international debut at U20s level. Christmas Jerseys and Air the Bear 2021/22
Air the Bear Here's an update on this season's Air the Bear. We had planned to run this on 11th December, but it came to light that we would most likely need to quarantine the bears before they could be accepted by the hospital for donation (we learned this after Jake Peill's fantastic Act of Kindness collection). There was then not enough time to bring it forward to the 4th December game to meet the Christmas deadline. We are not sure how other teams are doing their version and whether the same rules apply.
