Acute Ambulance Medical Services | Milton Keynes Lightning

Helping keep our players safe and providing emergency support to the team, Milton Keynes Ice Hockey Club is pleased to announce that Acute Ambulance and Medical Services (AAMS) will be continuing their support of MK Lightning for the 2019/20 season.

AAMS was established in 2006 and has grown to become the largest independent ambulance service in Buckinghamshire, supporting NHS Ambulance Trusts in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire Hampshire & Northamptonshire. They are also a leading supplier of ambulance services across the UK and provide ambulance services, event cover, training courses as well as maintaining their fleet of vehicles. They are fully registered with various regulatory bodies including the Care Quality Commission which demonstrates AAMS’ ongoing commitment to meeting the highest standards of care to patients.
Two significant elements of the AAMS business are their Training and Event support services. AAMS training courses cover: First Aid at Work; Paediatric training for childminders and carers who need to comply with SURESTART, OFSTED AND NCMA; and AED training which can equip people with life-saving skills in the event of cardiac arrest. On the Event side, AAMS provides a complete event planning and management service, and provide a scale of medical support from Doctors through to a full Field Hospital.
The role that AAMS will play for MKL is vital and covers two key areas. They will support the overall health and wellbeing of the team by running a weekly doctor led clinic alongside the team’s training session. They will also provide a paramedic led ambulance crew for all MKL home matches to ensure that significant match injuries can be handled quickly and safely.
MK Lightning Head Coach Lewis Clifford spoke about the vital nature of A.A.M.S’ services: “We all know that hockey is a fast-paced, highly physical contact sport. To have the support and care of A.A.M.S staff and their presence at matchdays and training gives us huge peace-of-mind that our players will be well looked after if they need it. We hope our players never need an A.A.M.S ambulance, but we’re comforted that if they did we have the very best on hand to help.”
Speaking about the partnership from his point of view, A.A.M.S Founder and Managing Director Kieren Gibson had this to say “In order to gain a real understanding of a sense of ‘Community’ you should be part of that community. During our time supporting MKL we have been welcomed into the hockey community, have made some lasting friendships and have learned an incredible amount. A.A.M.S are excited for the new era at MK Lightning and are looking forward to supporting the team and fans for the season ahead.”
We’d like to thank Acute Ambulance and Medical Services for their continued support as a Platinum Partner. Look out for their logo on the sleeve of our brand new MKL jersey, their rink board, on our website and once again through their innovative sponsorship of icing calls during the match.
