Defenceman Jordan Stokes signs for MK Lightning

MILTON KEYNES, 7 June 2019: Introducing a brand new face to MK Lightning, please welcome Jordan Stokes to the team for the 2019/20 season.

Warwick born 20 year old defenceman Jordan learned his hockey in the Coventry junior system before spending a season at Hull.

He joins us off the back of two NIHL seasons with Telford Tigers where he scored 34 points in 59 regular season games. He has Elite League experience with Coventry and has appeared for GB under 18s.

MK Lightning Head Coach Lewis Clifford gave us an idea of what to expect from Jordan, saying “Jordan is still a young man, but brings with him experience of NIHL1 as it has been the last two years, the old EPL, junior international and some time spent in the Elite League”

“All of these different levels of hockey and coaching he has been exposed to will enable him to fit in to both our team ethos, but also our systems and style of play.”

Jordan has heard great things about MKL and had this message for supporters “I am really excited to join Milton Keynes this year, after speaking to Cliff it sounds like we have a really strong team building, with plenty of experience and knowledge. Now the league structure has changed, hopefully this year more games will be competitive and exciting, also making it exciting to play.

I’m looking forward to moving over to MK and competing with the guys and fighting for silverware!”

Speaking about how Jordan had come to his attention, Cliff said “Jordan was recommended to me by one of our players and immediately I started to ask around to see what people knew about him. Similar reports came back from several people, who told me that he is a good skater who is positionally aware and uses these attributes to make smart simple plays.”

If you’d like to see Jordan play asap, he will be taking part in the Bethany-Shannon Memorial Ice Hockey Match 2019 tomorrow (8th June) in Coventry as part of the Bethany-Shannon Ice Hockey Festival (Facebook @BethanysLegacy). Tickets available at

“I am looking forward to seeing what Jordan brings to the team in September when he pulls on the MKL shirt for the first time.” finished Cliff.

Jordan Stokes will wear the number 6 jersey which is now available for Own and Loan.
