Exciting Tanaka joins MKL Forwards

Speedy Canadian-born forward Cale Tanaka adds to MKL offensive threat MILTON KEYNES, 20 July 2019: In a strong addition to the Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning roster, experienced forward Cale Tanaka has made the move south to MK after a season with Solway Sharks where he was second top scorer with 56 points in 34 games. Prior to that, Cale spent 6 seasons in the EIHL with four teams scoring 57 goals and 155 points. 33 year old Cale was born in Stouffville, Canada and his mother is Scottish. He holds a UK passport and has played here for more than two seasons so he is classified as an UK player for our team. Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning will play a warm-up double-header against Sheffield Steeldogs MILTON KEYNES, 18 July 2019: The start of the 2019/20 league season might still be several weeks away but today we can give some dates for your diary, your first opportunity to see the new team. Over the weekend of September 7th & 8th, the Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning will play the Bradfield Brewery Sheffield Steeldogs as both sides take to the ice for the first time. Saturday 7th will see Milton Keynes hosting, with the action moving to iceSheffield on Sunday 8th. There is long and eventful history of matches between the two teams but this will be the first meeting since the final EPL season, when MKL won the playoff title prior to joining the Elite League. Smith Construction Group Extend Involvement with MKL

MK Lightning thrilled to confirm Smith are supporting the team for a fifth year MILTON KEYNES, 6 July 2019: Milton Keynes Ice Hockey Club are delighted to announce that Smith Construction Group will be continuing their long-standing involvement with Milton Keynes ice hockey as title sponsors of Milton Keynes Lightning. The 2019/20 season is Smith’s fifth year of involvement with Milton Keynes Lightning. Their association goes beyond the team on the ice however – they were heavily involved in the regeneration of the Morrisons and Planet Ice area, involved in both infrastructure and buildings works. Stokes joins MKL for 2019/20

Defenceman Jordan Stokes signs for MK Lightning MILTON KEYNES, 7 June 2019: Introducing a brand new face to MK Lightning, please welcome Jordan Stokes to the team for the 2019/20 season. Warwick born 20 year old defenceman Jordan learned his hockey in the Coventry junior system before spending a season at Hull. He joins us off the back of two NIHL seasons with Telford Tigers where he scored 34 points in 59 regular season games. He has Elite League experience with Coventry and has appeared for GB under 18s. PUCKY returns for MK Lightning MILTON KEYNES, 2 June 2019: A lynchpin and legend of Lightning hockey, after much negotiation (he was hibernating), we are ecstatic to confirm that Pucky has signed with MK Lightning for the 2019/20 season. A veteran of a number of MKL seasons, quietly spoken Pucky is the face – the giant white smiling face – of MKL hockey on match nights and in the community. May we introduce you to Zeus, a Greek god and the “Father of Gods and men” - a sky god who controlled lightning and thunder. Zeus was king of Mount Olympus, the home of Greek gods, ruling other gods as well as us mere mortals. In his role as king of the gods, Zeus was respected by all. Mortal kings would often boast that they were descendants of him. Zeus was also referred to as the “Lord of Justice”. Hesiod’s poem “Works and Days” (written around 700BC) described Zeus as a god who loved to laugh out loud. He was regarded as a wise god - fair, merciful, and prudent. He could also be unpredictable.
