Milton Keynes Ice Hockey Club is pleased to announce that David Down & Associates will be continuing their support of MK Lightning for the 2019/20 season as our sports therapy partner.

David Down (BSc Hons) is a fully qualified and insured practicing Sports Therapist based in Milton Keynes and is an active member of the Society of Sports Therapists. He specialises in using the principles of sport and exercise to make sure that clients are training and competing in a safe and efficient manner. David will apply effective sports therapy and strength and conditioning techniques to improve the entire fitness and sports performance of MKL this year.
David’s clinic is based just 5 minutes from the centre of MK at Wolverton Leisure Centre, making it conveniently accessible when needed. On site he also has access to the gym, rehabilitation facilities and the swimming pool.
MK Lightning Head Coach Lewis Clifford talked about the importance of sports therapy in the team’s development this year saying: “We have a long season ahead, with 56 league, cup and pre-season games and hopefully additional playoff and cup appearances. Hockey is a fast paced, physical sport so to be in peak condition, off ice sports therapy and conditioning is a vital part of our preparation. David will work with the team to underpin their on ice training with off ice treatment, and will help put them back together if they pick up a knock.”
Speaking about the partnership from his point of view, David had this to say “I’m very excited to continue working with such an amazing club. The organisation and structure this year is set out for success and with such a fantastic fan base and sponsors, I think it’ll be a great season.”
“We have a great sports medicine team in place for this year and by having access to our clinic in Wolverton leisure centre, will allow us to minimise time spent off ice with injuries, as well as keeping our lads in top shape throughout the season.”
We’d like to thank David Down & Associates for their continued support. Look out for their logo on the sleeve of our brand new MKL jersey, as well as on their rink side board.
