Key Information for Attending an MK Lightning Home Match
1. Buy your ticket and get it ready to show
We encourage everyone to buy your ticket in advance and make sure it’s arrived in your email
We recommend printing a physical copy of your e-ticket, but you also have the option to show on a mobile device.
Also if you’re using a mobile device, make sure your screen brightness is turned up to the max (to help our ticket scanners) and you have enough battery.
TOP TIP – If you are using a mobile device, make sure your email is downloaded to your phone or take a screen grab so you don’t need to rely on online connectivity on the day.
TOP TIP – phone signal in and around the rink can be a bit patchy so make sure you’ve synced everything you need before you arrive
2. Sort out travel and parking
Planet Ice is located near central Milton Keynes and next door to Milton Keynes Central railway station
There is parking at the rink and charges apply 24/7. Planet Ice car park charges are £2.00 up to 2 hours, £4.00 up to 4 hours and £6.00 up to 6 hours and £8.30 up to 8 hours and £10.00 up to 24 hours and £20.00 up to 48 hours and is controlled by an ANPR system.
TOP TIP – free parking is available at Morrisons a couple of minutes walk away
TOP TIP – please be aware that the underground car park at Morrisons will be closed and secured before the end of the game, so is not a good place to park!
3. Access and facilities
Rink Access is via main Front Door
Fans are encouraged to use the specific MKL QR codes at the entry point for test and trace
There will be no specific one way systems in the rink, but please try and maintain space where you can
Food and beverage concessions will be operational at Planet Ice MK and will operate queuing systems as needed.
Chuck a Duck will operate with a cleaning protocol in place
We will continue to offer Bench with the Lightning and Player Signings, Photos and Supporters Club merchandise sales
4. Keeping Each Other Safe
MK Lightning games are not test events or trial of COVID-19 passes, so we won’t be checking COVID certification
Whilst it’s not a condition of entry, we hope that many, if not most, of our fans will be partly or fully vaccinated before they attend a fixture. However, we all have our part to play, so we strongly recommend that everyone takes a Lateral Flow Test before coming along, so we can all stay safe.
We also encourage everyone to consider wearing a face mask whilst they are inside the arena
Remember to sanitise regularly – stations available around the venue.
Give each other space, especially in busier areas.
5. Please don’t attend in person if
you are developing symptoms or feel unwell
you are in quarantine or self-isolating or you have been told to self-isolate via a government notification e.g. app ping, letter, track and trace call – you may not attend until the period of self-isolation has been completed
you have recently been in contact (15mins close contact or more) with anyone who has developed symptoms or tested positive for Covid-19
you have had a Covid-19 test and are awaiting the results
you have had a positive Covid-19 test within the last 10 days
At the moment, Government guidelines do not require us to use Covid passports or show proof of vaccination or negative tests so these are not required. If Government guidelines change or Milton Keynes Ice Hockey Club and / or the local authority need to make a change in guidelines, we will need to align with whatever those requirements are.
There is not a huge amount of space in the arena at your seat, so please limit any bags or belongings you bring with you
Bags will be searched on entry to the arena
7. Food and Drink
No food or drink may be brought into any Venue (except in limited circumstances on proven medical grounds) unless otherwise notified at our discretion. A variety of food and/or beverages will be available for purchase within our Venue.
TOP TIP – sealed bottles of water may be brought into the Venue, or a suitable, empty drinking container may be used which may be filled with water when inside the venue.
8. Security and Stewarding
There are trained All In Black security and matchnight stewards at key points in the venue to help keep everyone safe
Please follow any guidance that they give
TOP TIP – feel free to ask anyone for help if you need something or are unsure about anything
Please comply with the following steps to make your visit as comfortable and safe as possible:
Before attending a game, carry out your own personal risk assessment, taking into consideration your age, health status and clinical vulnerability.
Be aware you are requested to consider wearing a mask or face covering over both your nose and mouth whilst at the rink (except on ice). It is not mandatory to wear a mask, however Planet Ice are strongly requesting that everyone wears a mask when they are moving around the rink.

Entering and Exiting the Rink
Access for all general admission spectators will be via the main front door. Spectators will be directed into lanes according to their ticket type. Season tickets will be in a bar-coded credit card format that will be scanned as they enter the building. Pre-purchased tickets will be emailed to spectators and scanned on arrival.
Spectators will be encouraged to purchase tickets in advance to reduce congestion in the front of house area. Please see here for details on how to purchase in advance. Spectators purchasing on the night will be directed to the front desk and then their printed ticket scanned on entry to the rink. Please note Planet Ice now operates as cashless.
Spectators wishing to leave the building and then return will be given a stamp on the back of their hands.
Doors will open at 17:45 (for a 19:00 face off) to enable any vulnerable or concerned spectators (who are noted on an agreed pre-entry list) to enter the venue earlier than usual, when there is more space. General admission will be from 18:00.
Test & Trace
We will encourage all attending to check in to the venue using the specific MKL QR codes in the foyer. This will be mandatory if required by government guidelines.
One Way Systems
It is not possible to implement and maintain a one-way system at Planet Ice MK. All attending are requested to maintain space where possible.
There will be clear signage for ticketing lanes and entry points.
Food & drink in the rink
Food and beverage concessions will be operational at Planet Ice MK and will operate queuing systems as needed. Some concessions that are located in pinch points may not be operational.
There will be mobile sellers (hawkers) for beer and beverages walking through the stands. The intention is to minimise the need for spectators to leave their seats and move around the rink.
We will operate a 20min period break to give more time for people to move around the rink and less pressure to rush back to seats.
Chuck A Duck
Before the first game, all ducks are sanitised
At the game – public are asked to put the exact change into a bucket carried by a member of the chuck-a-duck team.
One of the chuck-a-duck team who will be in gloves will hand the person a duck
Chuck-a-duck can only be thrown from around the rink over the plexi, members of the public are not permitted in the players benches
On ice team to scoop up the ducks wearing gloves and place the ducks in a sealed container.
Chuck-a-duck team will then sanitise the ducks before next use

Where this is on sale, the prize will not be awarded on this night. It will be washed and provided to the winner as soon as possible after the game (or presented at the next game)
Bench with the Lightning, Player signings, photographs & Supporters Club stand
We will continue to offer Bench with the Lightning experiences and will require hosts and guests to wear facemasks throughout. The home bench will be wiped down after warm up.
Player signings will happen at the end of the game in the Papa Johns corner of the rink. Both players and spectators to wear face masks and players to use their own pen.
Photographs with players will be done without facemasks but at arms length, e.g. jersey between player and fan
The Supporters Club will operate with cash and card. It is requested that customers do not try on clothing items but this is not prohibited.
