Time for the next set of players taking to the ice with Ross Green for his Testimonial on the 4th May 24.

Details of whose jerseys are available for Own and Loan are included below – please follow the instructions at the bottom of the post.

LIAM STEWART

‘Disco’ was already an established player at Elite and international level when he joined MKL.  He played his junior hockey in the US, initially with the LA Junior Kings then Spokane Chiefs before a move to the Coventry Blaze in 2016 – the same season that he was a member of the World Championship-winning GB senior men’s team in Belfast. In 2019 he made the move to MK, becoming our top goal-scoring Brit in his first season – a feat he repeated in 2022! In summer 2023 Liam stepped back from the sport to concentrate on family matters, but the lure of the Lightning was too strong and last November he returned.  Sunday’s game in Sheffield was a Stewy masterclass when he scored 3+1 to earn Man of the Match.

WILL KERLIN

Although 23-year-old Will joined us from Bristol Pitbulls, his roots are local – he was born in Bedford and iced for MK Storm U16’s! After a brief spell with the Guildford youth system, he spent four years honing his skills at the Ontario Hockey Academy and he’s also backstopped Great Britain at U18 and U20 levels. When Jordan Hedley picked up an upper body injury earlier this season, Will stepped into the crease and put in some top performances between the pipes.   Own and Loaned 🟢

BEN SOLDER

Like Will Kerlin, Chelmsford-born Ben is another product of the Ontario Hockey Academy, and another player to be selected for GB at U18 and U20 levels..  After two seasons playing collegiate hockey in the US, he combined EIHL experience at Manchester Storm with NIHL hockey courtesy of Leeds Knights & Bristol Pitbulls. Own and Loaned 🟢

JOE WILSON

Joe joined MKL in 2022 as Assistant Coach.  He enjoyed a playing career exclusively in Peterborough where he appeared at junior and NIHL2 level, before moving into coaching in 2017/18 as Assistant Coach of the Peterborough Phantoms NIHL 2 side.  He then moved to Chelmsford Chieftains as Head Coach in a role which he held for nearly 4 seasons before moving on in March 2022.  At last year’s End of Season Awards, it was announced that Joe had signed  a two year extension to his contract and we look forward to seeing him on the bench for the 24-25 campaign! GREEN 14

I am absolutely thrilled to share some incredible news with all of you. My brother, Fraser Green, will be lacing up his skates and hitting the ice with me for my upcoming testimonial match! This announcement fills me with immense excitement and pride as I prepare to share this special moment with my youngest brother.

Fraser, who played his junior hockey career right here in Milton Keynes, made the difficult decision to step away from the game to pursue his education and later, a career in the police force.

Fraser had to put up with a lot of Abuse from me and Cam growing up, being the youngest brother meant he was often forced to play roller hockey while we shot tennis balls at him, whether he liked it or not.with that being said I’m excited to get to finally share the ice with him once again.  Written by Ross Green.

LEWIS CLIFFORD

‘Cliff’ earned his playing spurs with nine seasons at Thunder as both player and coach, before joining Lightning as Assistant Coach. In 2019 he took the reins in his own right as Head Coach, leading the team to the play off final in April 2022 and we hope you’ll raise the roof for him at Sloth’s Big Night!

BEN RUSSELL

Ben is MK born and bred and another product of the Milton Keynes hockey system – so he knows how much every win means to our fantastic fans after playing five seasons in our colours! Ben now ices for Chelmsford Chieftains. Own and Loan available ⚪️.

NICK POOLE

The original Lightning legend. His shirt was the first raised to the rafters and the #91 jersey retired, having represented MK Kings as well as Lightning. Calgary born Nick signed to the Lightning in our inaugural season of 2002, remaining for 11 seasons as a player-coach, followed by two as Head Coach and one as General Manager. Over 464 league games he led the Lightning to three league titles and four playoff trophies, making MKL the most successful UK team outside the Elite League, and scoring more assists than any other MK Lightning player.

Kindly written By Tracey Richardson.

Own and Loan will be £100 each, please email dave@b2promodesign.com from 9.30am Wednesday 20th March.
