A2B Airport Transfers Match Report: Smith Recycling MKL 6 – 4 Raiders

Match Reports are brought to you in association with A2B Airport Transfers Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning broke a four game losing streak as they celebrated a 6-4 victory over Raiders at Planet Ice on Sunday. After a fairly even first two periods in which the two teams traded goals Lightning asserted their authority to take control of the third period with goals from Russ Cowley and Liam Stewart. But the win came at a cost with what looked like a substantial leg injury to defenceman James Griffin who had to be assisted off the ice 16 minutes [...]

A2B Airport Transfers Match Report: Leeds 4 – 1 Smith Recycling MKL

Match Reports are brought to you in association with A2B Airport Transfers It was not a night to remember when Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning returned to the Skydome at Coventry on Saturday for the first time since their English Premier League Play Off victory in 2017. That 7-2 triumph against Telford Tigers became a distant memory as Lightning went down 4-1 to Leeds Chiefs on a night which was capped by an ankle injury to key forward Robin Kovar who limped off with only a quarter hour of the game played. This was a home fixture for [...]

Robin Kovar hurt vs. Leeds

Last night's disappointing result vs. Leeds where we lost 4-1 in the game played at Coventry has come with some further bad news about the fitness of Robin Kovar.  During the game, Robin sustained an impact injury to his ankle and unfortunately this has caused some damage.  We are looking after Robin and will be fully supporting his rehabilitation which will need to take place off-ice for the foreseeable future.  As you can imagine, Robin is super-frustrated by this setback, and will be back playing as soon as he can.  He's in good spirits overall. We will release more news [...]

A2B Airport Transfers Match Report: Raiders 6 -4 Smith Recycling MKL

Match Reports are brought to you in association with A2B Airport Transfers Raiders dealt a blow to Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning’s ambitions of making ground on the teams above them in the National Ice Hockey League as Lewis Clifford’s charges went down 6-4 at Romford’s Sapphire Ice Centre on Sunday. Coupled with Saturday’s overtime loss to Swindon Wildcats it meant that Lightning gleaned just a single point from the weekend and although still in sixth position are level on points with Sheffield Steeldogs who defeated Raiders the previous day. There was a bright start for Lightning when [...]

A2B Airport Transfers Match Report: Smith Recycling MKL 3 – 4 Swindon

Match Reports are brought to you in association with A2B Airport Transfers Sam Bullas drove a bullet into Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning’s hopes of maintaining their home winning run when he struck with an overtime winner at Planet Ice on Saturday. The goal 3mins 18secs into the extra period was all the more hard to take because until 20secs from the end of regulation time Lightning had led the game from the time Russell Cowley had opened the hosts’ account with just over two minutes gone. Among the spectators was former champion boxer Frank Bruno whose foundation [...]

A2B Airport Transfers Match Report: Sheffield 5 -4 Smith Recycling MKL (after Penalty Shots)

Match Reports are brought to you in association with A2B Airport Transfers Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning suffered slight blip in their recent resurgence when they went down 5-4 on penalty shots at Sheffield Steeldogs on Sunday. It meant that Lightning finished the weekend with three out of a possible four points. A few weeks ago that would have been regarded with delight but following the recent turn around in results which has produced 26 points out of 30 it could wrongly be regarded as a setback. At IceSheffield they fell behind to a Ryan Johnson opener for [...]

A2B Airport Transfers Match Report: Smith Recycling MKL 4 – 3 Sheffield

Match Reports are brought to you in association with A2B Airport Transfers Sheffield Steeldogs' reported attempts to close down sharp shooter Liam Stewart worked well for all of 2mins 4secs as Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning closed the gap on the teams above them in the National Ice Hockey League at Planet Ice on Saturday. To a player of Stewart's calibre Steeldogs' bid to stop him would have proved to a challenge to rise to. And it took him a mere couple of minutes to fire cheeky backhand shot past Dimitri Zimozdra after being set up by Ross [...]
