MK Lightning, is thrilled to announce the signing of Toms Rutkis for his first season with the club. The forward joins Lightning after an impressive performance with the Dundee Stars in the Elite League last season.
In the 2022/23 season, Toms Rutkis played 52 games for Dundee, tallying 3 goals and 4 assists, amounting to a total of 7 points.
Having started his junior career in Swindon, Toms Rutkis progressed to play for the Cardiff Devils before finding his place with the Dundee Stars. With six years of experience playing in the Elite League against top-tier competition, Rutkis has proven himself as an elite skater with excellent hands and a powerful shot.
MK Lightning Head Coach Tim Wallace expressed his excitement about the new signing, stating, “Toms is an elite skater with good hands and a heavy shot. He has been playing at a high pace against great competition in the Elite League for the past six years. He is still young, and I am excited to see him play when given more minutes and able to showcase his offensive capabilities. He will be hard to play against and should create havoc on the forecheck.”
Toms Rutkis also expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Lightning for the upcoming season, saying, “I’m very excited to be joining the Lightning for the upcoming season. It was always a place that I looked forward to playing in previous seasons in the league, and I’m looking forward to experiencing the support of the MK fans. I hope we can build on the strengths of last season and have a successful year winning some trophies.”
