Overall MK Lightning have had a successful season in the Planet Ice National Hockey League, securing second place in the League campaign and reaching the Semi-Final of the Cup. Looking ahead, we are massively excited about the 2023/24 Season ahead and the chance to take the team even further, and so we are delighted to share that our first signing of this year can now be revealed as your number 28, Player/Coach Tim Wallace.

37 year old Tim is a native of Anchorage Alaska, and has extensive experience playing and coaching at the highest levels of the sport.  He left home at the age of 16 to play for the USA National Development Team in Ann Arbor Michigan where he won Gold medals at the Under 17 World Championships and Under 18 World Championships.

His professional hockey CV speaks for itself. 101 NHL appearances for Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Islanders, Tampa Bay Lightning and Carolina Hurricanes.  439 AHL appearances across Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Bridgeport Sound Tigers and The Charlotte Checkers. 82 ECHL appearances with Alaska and Wheeling.  And in Europe, extensive experience in the DEL and SHL, including a top scoring season for Örebro HK in the SHL in 2013/14.

For the season just gone we are very happy with a 75% win rate over the whole campaign, which is our highest win percentage since the 2003/04 season.  Our goal difference of 93 was the highest since that same season too. The exit from the Cup and Playoffs both came through single goal aggregate results, showing how close and competitive this league was.  Everyone wanted silverware, but we are happy with progress in any case.

Speaking about Tim’s return, MKL Director Tom Roberts said: “Tim has raised the bar in our team play over the last year and we are delighted to have him back.  He has a meticulous approach to coaching, game preparation and analysis, as well as leading from the front on the ice.  Tim’s quality and professionalism makes him an absolute joy to work with, and his focus on developing players and helping them in their careers has been clear to see.  Our league performance this year was the best it has been for a number of years, and myself and the Board look forward to fully supporting Tim as he builds the team for the 2023/24 season.”

Tim said of his return “I’m excited to be back for another year.  I really enjoy it here, the fans are unbelievable, and we have a great group of players that want to win and try to get better everyday.   My goal here is to win trophies and also develop guys and push them on to the next level, in their hockey game and to help them be the best they can be.  I think for year 1 we are definitely going in the right direction.  I can’t wait to put an exciting team together, and hit the ground running in year 2 with the best fans in the league”

Please welcome back Tim Wallace.

Tim will wear the number 28 jersey, which is now available to Own and Loan from 9am Monday morning.  Please email dave@b2promodesign for more information.
