Joining us to drive additional depth and firepower to our forward lines, we’re excited to welcome Mikey Power to the All In Black MK Lightning.  He joins us having spent the first part of the season with Bees, having picked up 13 points in 22 games across NIHL National League and Cup.

21 year old Mikey brings decent physical presence to the team, and is an agile 6’1” and 201lbs addition.  He began his junior career in the Romford system, before moving to Slough as an U16 and then on to Okanagan from 2015 to 2018.  He broke through to Swindon Wildcats, before heading across the pond for three seasons in the Western States Hockey League with Utah, Bellingham, Wichita and Oklahoma.  He then stepped into the USPHL with Pueblo Bulls where he picked up 36 points in 44 games.

AIB MKL Head Coach Lewis Clifford said this about Mikey’s arrival: “As soon as I read that Mikey was leaving the Bees I was interested in talking with him, but assumed he would also have something lined up/  When we spoke I was pleasantly surprised when I find out that wasn’t the case. We’ve been working to plan how our roster develops as the season progresses and this was a great opportunity to bring in an impact player.”

“As we look forward, we will need more depth throughout the season.  We’ll be missing Zaine for 2 weeks on international duty, and then there is a very hectic festive period so I’m delighted to have Mikey joining the team.”

“Mikey is a good player.  He adds some physicality and size to the team and brings a good shot and goalscoring threat.  He’s always scored well in junior leagues and across the pond and we’re hoping to see him contribute points as we go forward.  It will naturally take him some time to adjust to the role we have in mind for him and it’s always a learning curve coming into a team mid season – but it shouldn’t take too long with the amount of games we have coming up in a short period of time.”

Mikey is looking forward to joining up with AIB MKL, commenting: “I am excited to join MK to play in front of their loud fan base.  I have always enjoyed playing in MK it has always been a great atmosphere. After speaking to Cliff, I like the direction the club is heading and I want to be a part of a team that is competing for silverware. I am looking forward to getting started.”
