New Offensive Power as Sean Norris signs for AIB Milton Keynes Lightning

He’s a brand new player for AIB Milton Keynes Lightning, but not a complete stranger to MK hockey…please welcome Sean Norris to the 2021/22 Lightning team.

21 year old Sean was born in Ascot, and spent the early part of his career in the Bracknell junior system before spending a couple of seasons in the Czech republic at under 18 and under 20 level.  His UK breakthrough came as he moved into playing senior hockey for Slough Jets, picking up an impressive 35 goals and 79 points in just 24 games in the 2018/19 season, when he also made 19 appearances for MK Thunder working with MKL Head Coach Lewis Clifford and picking up a further 11 points.  In 2019/20 he initially signed a 2 way for Slough and Basingstoke, before making the Bison his first priority for the rest of the season.  In that NIHL National season he picked up 30 points in 23 games.

Cliff told us what he thought: “I have worked with Sean before and in the past 2 years seeing him play against us I have seen a huge improvement in his game.”

Many of us saw Sean play against us for the Bison and were impressed, and Cliff told us the impact we might expect to see in a Lightning shirt: “Sean is a dynamic skilled forward, he has a high compete level, great athleticism, good hands and a fantastic shot. He is coming here to be a player who we rely on to play in all situations – as a winger who can play a ton of minutes 5 on 5 but can also work in a number of roles on the PP and his skating and competitiveness make him an asset on the PK”.

Cliff also sees Sean as having strong future prospects: “He has a very high ceiling that he’s determined to reach and I am really excited about playing a part in him fulfilling that ambition.

Sean says of joining AIB MK Lightning “I’m really happy to have signed for MK. Every time I come here I’ve thought about how electric the crowd is. The facilities here are top notch and the atmosphere amongst the boys in the room is already great even at summer skates. If I could use one word to sum up how I’m feeling about the upcoming season it would be ‘buzzing.’ I’ve played with some of the boys here before and played for Cliff with Thunder so I feel like I should settle in quite quickly, I can’t wait until September.”

Cliff finished by sharing his views on how Sean might be perceived: “Sean will be a player the MK fans will be talking about on a Saturday night in the bar, he will create a buzz around the rink.  I am delighted to have signed Sean for the 2021-22 season.”
