Goaltenders beware, the hardest shot is here once more as we welcome back last season’s top points scorer Tomas Kana for a second year in MKL colours. Czech born Tomas made 49 appearances last year, picking up 30 goals and 68 points in total, along with 133 minutes in penalties.

32-year-old Tomas brings back with him a hockey pedigree which includes appearances and points at the highest level.  He made his NHL debut in March 2010 for Columbus Blue Jackets, and picked up a couple of assists against Detroit a few games later.  He made his biggest mark that same year one league below as he picked up an impressive 15 goals and 28 points in 50 games for Syracuse in the tough AHL.

Last year, as well as being our top points scorer, TK was a presence across all parts of the ice.  He showed great stick skills, physicality and a big presence on both the PK and PP as MK Lightning Head Coach Lewis Clifford explains: “TK has played at the very highest level in the world and he brings so much experience, know how and quality to our locker room.  Re-signing TK was a no brainer for me.  Not only was he our top points scorer last season, he accomplished this whilst being an unreal presence in all 3 zones.”

“TK could have scored more goals and more points if he was out for himself and his personal stats, but he always prioritises the team and is willing to play a solid 60 metre game, he kills penalties, blocks shots, plays with a physical edge and is also capable of exploding offensively and scoring in a variety of different ways.”

TK himself is pleased to be back, having settled well into the MK community and is enjoying his time here: “I’m honoured to be back with MKL.  From the first day in the club I’ve felt at home and I am very happy that I can continue here.  Our goals do not change and they are still the highest and that is to win for MKL and all our fans the title.  It is amazing to be back home in MK.”

Having shared with you earlier in the summer the return of Robin Kovar, TK completes our quote of non-British trained players, and Cliff is very happy to have both returning: “Signing imports can often be a gamble if you don’t know them, so I am delighted that we have 2 imports we know, like, trust and who want to be here and win in an MKL jersey.”

Welcome back TK.  Looking forward to seeing you take to the ice, pick up some points, and deliver some more of those amazing hits.  Good to have you back!
