Sean Norris put in a relentless shift on the road, earning Man of the Match with a performance built on pace and persistence. Driving hard through the lines, his speed caused problems all night, and his well-earned assist capped off a display full of energy, smart link-up play, and real attacking intent.

Back on home ice Sunday, Norris stepped it up again with a standout showing, bagging two goals and adding an assist in a clinical, all-action performance. His sharp skating and awareness created chances throughout, while his teamwork and composure in front of goal proved decisive in a dominant outing.

On Saturday, penalties cost us, along with an eight-minute lapse where we dropped our guard and allowed Hull to take advantage. The disallowed goal might have shifted the game’s momentum, but we’ll never know.

On Sunday, we came out strong and played our game in front of an incredible crowd—the true sixth man on the ice. The team hears you and feeds off that energy, and we’ll need it for the next two home games and on the road.

"Toms Rutkis – Forward (#10)

Latvian-born forward Toms Rutkis is a skilful two-way player who has become a vital part of MK’s line-up. In 2024/25, he played 52 games, recording 18 goals and 18 assists for 36 points, proving his consistency and reliability at NIHL National level. Rutkis is a smart skater with good puck control, and he uses his hockey IQ to be effective in both ends of the ice. He has a knack for timing his entries and supporting the play, making him a dependable forward in all situations. Number 10 gives the Lightning balance, depth, and a steady scoring touch that keeps opposition teams under pressure.

Eric Henderson drives much of that threat, operating as the heartbeat of Telford’s offence. His ability to find space and move the puck at pace makes him a constant problem, whether he’s carrying through the neutral zone or threading passes into dangerous areas. This season in the NIHL he has been particularly effective as a playmaker, consistently linking lines and dictating tempo (2025–2026 • NIHL • Telford Tigers: GP 54, G–A–P 21–80–101, PIM 23). Lightning’s defence will need to close him down early and limit his time on the puck.

Relentless in his approach, David Thomson brings a different kind of danger, blending direct shooting with a physical edge. He plays with intent, drives the net hard, and is never shy of putting pucks on goal from high-percentage areas. His scoring record this season underlines that threat, while his penalty minutes reflect a player fully engaged in the battle (2025–2026 • NIHL • Telford Tigers: GP 53, G–A–P 49–45–94, PIM 41). If given space in the slot, he has the finishing touch to make the difference.

Along the blue line, Calean McPhee offers composure and contribution in equal measure. Comfortable stepping into the rush, he supports the attack without sacrificing his defensive responsibilities, moving the puck cleanly out of danger and into transition. His production from the back end highlights that dual role, adding depth to Telford’s offence (2025–2026 • NIHL • Telford Tigers: GP 44, G–A–P 12–34–46, PIM 22). Containing his movement and limiting second-phase plays will be key for Lightning.
