Wednesday night’s Man of the Match went to Dominik Gabaj, who scored an important goal in Lightning’s 6–4 win over the Basingstoke Bison. It was the Bison’s first visit to Planet Ice Milton Keynes following their absence from the league, and fans were treated to an end-to-end game full of action. Gabaj’s goal helped secure a home victory for the Lightning.

Nathan Ripley has established himself as a productive forward at NIHL level following his Elite stints with Coventry and Sheffield. His 2024–2025 season demonstrated consistency across all situations, contributing both goals and assists while maintaining a physical edge in open play. A graduate of the Steeldogs’ own system, he continues to combine size and mobility to good effect, providing reliable secondary scoring and forechecking pressure. Ivan Björkly Nordström represents one of Sheffield’s key offensive threats.
