Milton Keynes Lightning and the Milton Keynes Lightning Supporters Club (MKLSC) will host a special charity fixture on Saturday 14 March 2026, raising vital funds and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Society, a cause close to the hearts of many across the Milton Keynes community.

On the night, the Lightning will take to the ice wearing a special charity jersey, designed with a difference to help shine a spotlight on the vital work Alzheimer’s Society does to support people living with dementia and their families. Dementia remains the UK’s greatest long-term health challenge, affecting hundreds of thousands of people and their loved ones, and Alzheimer’s Society continues to lead the way in providing support, funding research, and campaigning for better care and understanding.

Soraya Bowen, Regional Fundraiser for Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes at Alzheimer’s Society, said:

“We are so grateful that Milton Keynes Lightning (MKL) and the Milton Keynes Lightning Supporters Club (MKLSC)  have chosen to support Alzheimer’s Society. Each hour people generously give to fundraise for us, every event they take part in, every pound they donate, they’re making a life-changing difference to people living with dementia.

“Alzheimer’s Society provides vital support to people living with dementia, funds groundbreaking research and campaigns to make dementia the priority it should be. It will take a society to beat dementia.

“There are around a million people living with dementia in the UK including more than 3,000 in Milton Keynes. We all have a role to play in ending the devastation dementia causes. We simply can’t reach everyone who needs us without the continued support of our incredible fundraisers like MKL and MKLSC”.

The event aligns with Alzheimer’s Society’s Sport United Against Dementia campaign, which highlights the important role sport can play in tackling dementia. Sport connects people of all ages and backgrounds, helps reduce stigma, and enables people living with dementia to remain engaged with the activities and communities they love.

In recognition of the importance of this cause, both Milton Keynes Lightning and the MKLSC will be making a donation to Alzheimer’s Society via their JustGiving page, which is now live.

Representatives from Alzheimer’s Society will also be in attendance on the night, with Forget-me-not pins available to purchase at £2 each. These pins help raise both awareness and vital funds to support research and services for people affected by dementia.

Fans attending the game on 14 March are encouraged to get involved, show their support, and help make the evening meaningful both on and off the ice. Further details on fundraising activities taking place on the night will be shared ahead of the fixture.

MKL and the MKLSC are proud to use the platform of ice hockey to support such an important cause and look forward to welcoming supporters for what promises to be a special and impactful evening.
