Milton Keynes Lightning confirms that forward Mack Stewart will not be returning for the 2025/26 season.
The 20-year-old Belfast-born forward is set to take the next step in his career, following an impressive rise since joining MKL ahead of the 2022/23 season. Mack has established himself as one of the team’s leading goal scorers, racking up 34 goals and 31 assists during the 2024/25 campaign. Renowned for his exceptional skating, and his ability to create offence and find scoring areas, he has earned the opportunity to compete at the highest level of British ice hockey.
“Thank you for everything the last 3 years, best fans in the league. Thank you to Tim and Joe for helping me and taking me in. Thanks to everyone else involved in the club for their hard work and making sure that all the players are treated well, it made my time more enjoyable being surrounded by good people. Thanks to the boys for an incredible three seasons winning two trophies and to all the good times on and off the ice, also thanks to the girlfriends and wives for tolerating me that last couple years 😂. MK is a special place for me, and it will be missed, but i;ve been given an amazing opportunity that I couldn’t turn down.  Thanks Mack.
PS: Jordan Cownie try not to miss me too much 😜” Mack Stewart
Head Coach Tim Wallace paid tribute to Mack’s development and character, as well as the significance of his move:
“Mack has earned a well-deserved opportunity at the next level.
Mack is one of the hardest-working and most dedicated players I’ve had the privilege to coach. His relentless work ethic, commitment to improvement, and drive to achieve his goals set him apart, and it’s no surprise that his efforts have paid off.
Mack was a pleasure to have in our group—not only as a player but also as a teammate and person. His presence will certainly be missed, and he leaves behind big shoes to fill. But that’s what we want for our players—for them to grow, develop, and ultimately take the next step.
We’re excited for what’s ahead for Mack, and we’re proud to have been a part of his journey. He’s earned this, and we’ll be cheering him on every step of the way.”
