After recent management changes, Lewis Clifford has signed as MK Lightning’s Head Coach for 2019/20

MILTON KEYNES, 17 MAY 2019: Milton Keynes Ice Hockey Club (MKIHC) are delighted to confirm Lewis Clifford as MK Lightning Head Coach for the upcoming NIHL National pision season.

MKL’s recent change of ownership means that staff and players need to sign for the new organisation and Cliff is the first appointment since the change.

Cliff brings a wealth of hockey experience to the team including several years as coach of MK Thunder. He is no stranger to MK Lightning as Assistant Coach for six seasons and also having helped them last season while they navigated some challenging times.

Securing his services is a vital first step for MK Lightning after a period of uncertainty and a frenetic week that saw MKIHC secure a place in the NIHL National pision.

Claire Eason-Bassett, CEO commented “This is great news for us and hockey in Milton Keynes, it demonstrates the continuity and commitment that we have to MK Lightning. We are confident that Cliff has the skills and experience to deliver in the new pision of the NIHL and we are excited to be working with him”.

As former Thunder and current junior coach, Cliff is also ideally placed to help MKIHC with the club’s commitment to support MK hockey in general.

Commenting on his appointment, Cliff looked to the future “It is great to confirm my position after a few weeks of uncertainty. The new group behind MK Lightning have moved swiftly and professionally to bring me onboard and we will be working together to quickly bring the players into the new organisation. It is great to now focus on the future, building a competitive team and preparing to play great hockey in front of Lightning fans next season”.

With Cliff’s services secured, MK Lightning are now working to bring his recent player signings into the team while also supporting him in securing additional players for the new season.

All at MK Lightning would like to wish Cliff every success for the upcoming season.
