Our fifth signing of 2022/23 adds to our defensive core, bringing experience, skill and a huge work ethic. Please welcome back Lewis Christie to All In Black MK Lightning!
32 year old Lewy was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and began his career with Dundee and Edinburgh before earning his first international call up with GB U18s for whom he iced 9 times. Lewy then forged his career in the Elite League with Belfast Giants, and a brief stint in Basingstoke, before joining MKL in 2008. He has remained with the MK hockey family since then, and made 38 appearances for Lightning in the 2021/22 season picking up a goal and 13 assists for his efforts.
Lewy plays hard all game long, and is well known for his ability to close down opposition forwards, and for playing a critical role on the Penalty Kill where he will often take the first 60 seconds and make it disappear. He’s a superb team player, and is relied on by his team mates to make intelligent, consistent plays in his own end and press the team up the ice.
AIB MKL’s Tim Wallace told us why he’s happy to have Lewy on the team, saying: “When I was looking at the defensive core, Lewy was one of the top players I wanted to get signed and committed for the coming year. His work ethic is great, and he is a fantastic example to some of the younger guys in the team of how to play solid defensive hockey with the minimum of mistakes. I’m pleased that he’s going to be one of our core D-men for this year.”
Lewy is delighted to be returning to MKL for 2022/23 saying “This will be my 12th year with MKL and it was no brainer when asked to sign again for another season. Tim is putting together a very strong team and it’s set to be a very good season! I think this could be the year for MKL to get that trophy! Roll on September!”.
Please welcome back Lewis Christie. He will wear the number 66 shirt. The own and loan is now available so if you’re interested please email Dave Bunyan email@example.com
