Building out the All In Black MKL coaching team for 2022/23, we are delighted to welcome Joe Wilson as our Assistant Coach.

27 year old Joe had a playing career exclusively in Peterborough where he appeared at junior and NIHL2 level, before moving into coaching in 2017/18 as Assistant Coach of the Peterborough Phantoms NIHL 2 side.  Joe then moved to Chelmsford Chieftains as Head Coach in a role which he held for nearly 4 seasons before moving on in March 2022.

Joe also plays a key role in junior coaching and development, working alongside former MK King David Clarke as part of his hockey camp coaching team.  He’s a super energetic coach and person, who will bring a passion for coaching, development and analysis to AIB MKL and Joe was recommended for the role by people he has worked with before.

Speaking about Joe’s appointment, AIB MKL’s Tim Wallace has this to say: “Joe is someone who has been a head coach, knows the game, and is eager to learn. I could tell from our first interview that his work ethic and ambition are second to none. I am excited to work with someone who is going to put in the work with me to help the club achieve its goals.”

Joe is excited to get going, saying: “I’m really excited to be joining the Milton Keynes family. After speaking with Tom and Tim about the goals for the team and the operations of the club it was an easy decision and felt right for me to come onboard.

Tim is putting in a lot of work already, laying down the foundations for a great team. I’m really excited to work alongside and learning from Tim, whose career speaks for itself. From conversations we have had it’s clear we both share similar values and goals.

I can’t wait to start helping him both on and off the ice to build towards the end goal and bringing some well deserved silverware home.”

Welcome Joe!  We look forward to seeing you on the bench for the upcoming season.
