With final preparations being put in place ahead of his testimonial tonight, Lightning legend Leigh Jamieson has thanked everyone who has made his big night possible.

Weeks of planning has gone into tonight’s event at Planet Ice, when legends from right across MK Lightning’s 20 year history – as well as friends from Leigh’s long playing career – join him on the ice for an evening to remember.

Leigh said, “Firstly thanks to my mum and dad, they made it possible for me to be a hockey player at all! And massive thanks to my wife Janine for supporting me for so long.

“I’ve been lucky enough to play for some amazing coaches across the years and had some brilliant team mates – a big thank you to all them here today for coming, particularly as some of them have travelled a long way to take part – and it’s going to be great to have them on the ice with me again tonight.”

Jaimo then moved on to thank everyone who gave up their time to organise this evening’s testimonial.

“I want to thank all the businesses who have got involved – Aaron and his team at All In Black Group particularly as the headline sponsor, and also 123 Internet Group who’ve worked so much on the web and social media for this, also Steve Johnson at Autosmart, Re-Use in Northampton, Body Limits, LR Brown, A2B Airport Transfers, A & O Van Services and Chez Tichot, who have all sponsored the players’ jerseys for the testimonial.

“Also a special mention to Willen Hospice; myself, Liam Stewart and Bobby Chamberlain will  wear special pink jerseys in the warm-up tonight. Bobby and Disco’s will be raffled and mine auctioned, with all the proceeds going to Willen.  Some of their staff will be at the rink tonight doing a bucket collection so please dig deep!”

“Thankyou to the organising group who’ve given their time to help me plan my testimonial – Dave, Richard, Shelley and Gary from the Supporters’ Club, Tom and Vicki, from MKL,  Tracey and Chris from the matchnight team and Aaron from All In Black – and everyone at Planet Ice and the off-ice volunteers for helping make tonight happen.”

Jaimo finished with a Thank you to the biggest group involved in making tonight a success: the supporters!

“I want to say thank you to all the fans who’ve supported me and the teams I’ve played for over the years, your backing means the world and I can’t wait to see you all tonight!”
