This is big. We’re so happy to bring you the news that Ross Venus has signed for the upcoming 2023/24 season. The 29-year-old forward joins us from Coventry Blaze, where he spent the 2022/23 season, scoring 9 goals and 23 assists.
Since we did this deal at the end of March, it’s been fantastic to see the rumours and excitement building as Ross appeared for GB at MK last week, and we are sure that Ross will receive a fantastic welcome when he takes to the ice for the first time in the MK arena.
Venus is a GB international and Elite League legend, having spent his entire career at Coventry Blaze and representing GB at under 18, under 20 and senior level. He is known for his versatility and all-around great play, making him a valuable addition to the Milton Keynes Lightning team. He guested for MK Lightning during the Streaming Series in 2020.
Coach Tim Wallace expressed his excitement for the upcoming season, saying, “Ross is an all-around great player. He has had a great career in the Elite League because he was coachable and found a way to keep improving every year. I feel that he has an offensive upside that should flourish here in Milton Keynes. He will be relied upon in all situations, and I am excited to see him in action.”
Venus himself is also thrilled to be joining the team, saying, “I’m really excited to be joining the Lightning. I have really fond memories of my short stint with the team during covid so I’m sure it will be even better with the fans involved. I’ve heard nothing but great things about the atmosphere inside the arena on match nights.
I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone in the next few months and hopefully I can help the team to bring some trophies back to Milton Keynes!”
The signing of Ross Venus is a significant boost to the Milton Keynes Lightning team ahead of the new season, and we are looking forward to seeing Ross in action in an MKL jersey and welcoming him to the Milton Keynes Lightning family.
