In a great show of strength and consistency for the upcoming season, we’re delighted to reveal that Leigh Jamieson is our first signing for 2021/22.

The 2019/20 Milton Keynes Lightning Defenceman of the Year brings over 500 league appearances for MKL as part of a career which also includes Elite experience and international honours at World Championships and Olympic qualifier levels. Leigh is MK born and raised and started his hockey career in the MK junior system playing for the Storm.

He’s a huge presence on the ice and bagged 53 points to finish as 5th top points scorer in the 2019/20 and was a great leader on and off the ice thanks to his experience and character.  Lightning Head Coach Lewis Clifford gave his views: “I’m really pleased that Jimba is our first signing for 2021/22.  I trust him completely to deliver, and to set a great example to the younger guys on the team of what it takes to have a long and successful career and what it means to be part of MKL.”

“He was the second highest points scoring D-man in the league in our last full season, and it’s that combination of firepower and defensive presence that I know he’ll bring this time round.”

We spoke to Leigh about what it means to him too: “A whole season not playing the sport I love was really difficult.  I’ve talked to Cliff about his plans for the season and the squad that he’s building and I’m excited to bring my experience to the group.  MKL has been a huge part of my life, and it will be a massive pleasure to get back on the ice in front of our amazing fans and show them what we can do.”

Please welcome our very first signing for 2021/22 – Leigh Jamieson.  He will wear his familiar number 19 shirt for which the Own and Loan will roll over for the person who grabbed it for the 2020/21 season – Dave Bunyan will be in touch shortly!
