The lifestack Milton Keynes Lightning are delighted to announce the signing of forward David Thomson for the 2026/27 NIHL National Division season.

The 28-year-old Canadian forward arrives in Milton Keynes following a standout campaign with the Telford Tigers, where he established himself as one of the league’s most dangerous offensive players. Thomson produced an elite scoring season in 2025/26, recording 94 points (49 goals, 45 assists) in 53 league games, alongside additional contributions in cup competition.

Across the NIHL National Division season, Thomson ranked among the league’s top scorers, consistently delivering at over a point-per-game pace while showcasing his ability as both a goal scorer and playmaker. In the previous 2024/25 campaign, he also posted 62 points (29 goals, 33 assists) in league play with Telford.

Known for his offensive instincts, pace, and ability to finish under pressure, Thomson has built a reputation as a consistent game-changer in the NIHL, regularly appearing on the scoresheet in key moments and powerplay situations.

Speaking on his move to Milton Keynes, David Thomson said:

“I’m very excited to be in Milton Keynes for the upcoming season. They have a great core of British talent and speaking with Pete about how he wants the team to play really aligns with my strengths as a player. I’m excited to come in and help the team win three trophies this season”.

lifestack Milton Keynes Lightning Head Coach Pete Russell welcomed the addition of the forward:

“I’m really happy and glad to have David on the team next season. He’s a pure scorer who plays with intensity, competes hard in the battles, and is strong on faceoffs. David is the kind of player every team needs, and we’re extremely happy to have signed him.”

Thomson’s arrival adds significant firepower to a Lightning roster aiming to compete for silverware across all competitions in 2026/27. His proven scoring touch, combined with experience in high-pressure situations, is expected to make an immediate impact in Milton Keynes.
