The lifestack Milton Keynes Lightning are delighted to announce the signing of defenceman Kell Beattie ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The 22-year-old Belfast-born blue-liner joins the Lightning following a strong development spell within the NIHL with the Solway Sharks, alongside previous experience within the Belfast Giants system. Beattie has continued to establish himself as an energetic, mobile defenceman with growing influence at senior level, and is regarded as one of the promising young British defencemen progressing through the national game.
During the 2025/26 NIHL National season with Solway, Beattie produced an impressive 30 points (11 goals, 19 assists) in 48 regular season appearances, contributing offensively from the blue line while also logging key defensive minutes in all situations. His ability to join the attack, combined with a physical edge and strong skating, made him a consistent presence on the Sharks roster throughout the campaign.
Beattie’s development trajectory has also been highlighted by involvement in Great Britain Men’s programmes, underlining his growing reputation at national level and his potential to step further into the elite game.
Lightning Head Coach Pete Russell believes Beattie brings both energy and upside to the roster:
“I’m pleased to have Kell Beattie join the team. Kell has spent the last few years at Solway and has ties to the Belfast Giants, he also attended GB Men in November which tells you a lot about where he’s at. He’s mobile, he’s got a good shot, he plays hard, and he’s very much a player on an upward trajectory. I’m looking forward to working with Kell next season.”
Beattie is equally excited to make the move to Planet Ice Milton Keynes:
“I can’t wait to get going at MK this season. I have heard nothing but good things about the organisation, I’m excited for the season ahead and hope to see you all very soon.”
The addition of Beattie strengthens the Lightning blue line ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, adding youth, mobility, and offensive upside as the club continues to build a competitive roster.
The lifestack Milton Keynes Lightning look forward to welcoming Kell to the club and seeing him in action next season.
Kell will wear the number 12 jersey for the 2026/27 season. Supporters will have the opportunity to Own and Loan his jersey when the news is announced publicly on Tuesday. Please email dave@b2promodesign.com, stating the jersey type – Light, Dark, Warm-Up or any.
