Before Friday’s game, the last regular season game, the MK Lightning Supporters Club (MKLSC) presented a cheque to MK Lightning, marking the culmination of an outstanding season of fundraising for the team.
A remarkable total of £161,000 has been raised across the season through a variety of initiatives, including Own and Loan schemes, merchandise sales, online raffles, weekly match night games and memberships.
The achievement reflects the dedication, time, and continued support of the supporters and volunteers behind the scenes.
Following the game, the MKLSC were invited onto the ice to join the team for a commemorative photograph, recognising their contribution to this exceptional effort for the season.
MKLSC Chairperson Dave Bunyan said:
“Whilst the sum of £161,000 is an incredible figure and one we are extremely proud of, however this has only been possible with the generosity and support of our wonderful fans. Make no bones about it our fans are the most generous and supportive around, our Own & Loan scheme is testimony to that with it being very popular even in the off season, add to that our match night fundraising and our busy merchandise stand and these are the reasons we have been able to raise the colossal sums we have.
There is a lot of work that goes on in the background to make the Supporters Club tick and be ready for game nights, a huge shout out to all the fundraisers, players, the coaches and owners who have helped in one way or another, it really is a team effort both on and off of the ice that makes this club of ours that extra bit special.
One person was missing from the presentation last night, Mary Golson who is poorly in hospital, we wish Mary a speedy and full recovery.
Thank you again to everybody who has contributed in one way or another in making this all possible, thank you.”
MK Lightning Director Tom Roberts added:
“The MKLSC continues to play a vital role in supporting the club, and this total is nothing short of phenomenal. On behalf of everyone at MK Lightning, I would like to thank each and every person involved in these fundraising efforts. Their hard work and dedication make a real difference to the team.”
MK Lightning extends its sincere thanks to all fundraisers and supporters who have contributed to this success.
