Milton Keynes Lightning are proud to unveil this year’s Remembrance Jersey, a uniquely designed tribute that honours the bravery, intelligence, and sacrifice of those who served during World War II.

The jersey has been designed by James Griffin from 123 Internet and holds deep local and historical significance. At first glance, the jersey carries a striking and respectful design, but look closer, and you’ll find that every element tells a story.

Running along the bottom of the jersey are letters inspired by the code used by the legendary codebreakers of Bletchley Park, just a stone’s throw from Milton Keynes. These codes were instrumental in breaking the Enigma cipher, the seemingly unbreakable German encryption system used during the war.

The team of Allied codebreakers, led by British mathematicians and engineers at Bletchley Park and supported by Polish experts, developed groundbreaking machines such as the Bombe to decipher Enigma’s secrets. Their work provided intelligence that played a decisive role in the Allied victory.

In a moving tribute, the red letters featured on the jersey are the 25 Second World War names of the veterans listed on the Bletchley Park War Memorial exactly as they’re inscribed under 1939–1945.

James had this to say about the design “Designing this year’s Remembrance Jersey has been a real honour. I wanted to create something powerful that reflects the courage, intellect, and teamwork that helped change the course of history.

The design pays tribute to one of Milton Keynes’ most iconic wartime landmarks – and I hope Lightning fans will love this special nod to our city’s proud heritage.”

This year’s Remembrance Jersey is more than just a design, it’s a powerful reminder of the courage, intellect, and teamwork that changed the course of history, and a nod to the proud heritage of Milton Keynes’ most famous wartime landmark.

The MK Lightning will wear the jersey during their Remembrance fixture on the 8th November.
