Milton Keynes Lightning are thrilled to confirm the return of netminder Will Kerlin for the 2025/26 season, as the homegrown talent recommits to the club he calls home.

Kerlin, 24, has become a fan favourite at Planet Ice since rejoining the club in 2023. A product of the MK junior system initially, before heading over to Canada and the Ontario Hockey Academy.  His performances between the pipes last season played a key role in MKL’s push for silverware – a campaign that saw the team challenge for every trophy and end on a high with an unforgettable playoff victory in Coventry.

Speaking about his return, Kerlin said:
“I am really happy to be back in MK next season. This is where I grew up playing and love it here. We were in the mix to win every trophy this season and came close a couple of times, then managed to get over the line in playoffs and win in Coventry which was really special. Another reason for me signing back is the fans – they are so amazing and always feel like the sixth player every game. The support we had in Coventry was like nothing I have ever seen and really cemented my feeling about this club. Winning in Cov has made me even hungrier to win more next year! Can’t wait for the season to start – see you in September MKL fans!”

Kerlin’s steady rise has been marked by resilience, work ethic, and growing confidence in the crease. His performances in the 2024/25 season demonstrated both maturity and sharpness, as he posted a 2.44 goals-against average and a 0.9097 save percentage (4th) in league play – impressive numbers that underline his ongoing development.

MK Lightning Head Coach Tim Wallace was equally enthusiastic about Kerlin’s return:
“Will is a great teammate and a pleasure to be around. He still has the potential to become a dominant player in this league. His work ethic is exceptional, and he’s willing to do whatever it takes to win. We’re fortunate to have a strong tandem in net, and the competition between them is pushing Will and preparing him for the next level.”

Kerlin’s return not only reinforces Lightning’s ambitions for the new campaign but also strengthens the sense of identity and team spirit that has become central to the club’s resurgence. With passionate support behind them and a hunger for more silverware, MKL head into 2025/26 with belief, balance—and now, a familiar face guarding the crease once again.

Will will continue to  wear the number 31 jersey, which is available from to Own and Loan now.
