BECOME A SPONSOR
Smith Construction Group Limited
MILTON KEYNES, 6 July 2019: Milton Keynes Ice Hockey Club are delighted to announce that Smith Construction Group will be continuing their long-standing involvement with Milton Keynes ice hockey as title sponsors of Milton Keynes Lightning.
The 2019/20 season is Smith’s fifth year of involvement with Milton Keynes Lightning. Their association goes beyond the team on the ice however – they were heavily involved in the regeneration of the Morrisons and Planet Ice area, involved in both infrastructure and buildings works. While this work was underway, Milton Keynes Lightning played out of Coventry. The team’s return to the newly refurbished Milton Keynes arena heralded the start of Smiths’ involvement with the team.
Since then, their sponsorship has helped support considerable MKL league and cup success as well as two years in the Elite League.
Chief Operating Officer Jonathan Raine commented on the announcement – “Today’s announcement is really exciting for Milton Keynes Lightning. Having spent some time working through our plans and discussing Smith’s involvement, I realised just how committed they are to Milton Keynes hockey. It is fantastic to have support and backing from a local business that really understands what the team means to our supporters.”
Smith Construction Group Ltd formed in 1994 to provide a comprehensive groundworks package construction projects. The company has enjoyed steady growth since then and now offers a broad range of services across Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, Bedford and Northamptonshire.
Servicing clients in both the private and public sector, the construction business has gone from strength to strength.
Alongside this, the Smith Recycling arm of the business is the leading provider of skip hire and recycling services across the Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire areas. In providing services to both trade and domestic customers, all skip material that they collect is treated locally at their dedicated recycling facility where they aim to reduce, reuse or recycle up to 90% of waste, perting as much from landfill as possible.
John Banks, Commercial Director of Smith Construction said “We are pleased to be supporting Milton Keynes Lightning once again. We have enjoyed being part of MKL, sponsoring the team and obviously we can’t help but be amused by chants of ‘in the skip’ on match nights. With the new management team in place, we are excited by the opportunities ahead and look forward to a successful partnership”.
Milton Keynes Lightning will start their league campaign in the new NIHL National over the weekend of 21/22 September 2019. With league fixtures yet to be announced, the team will in all likelihood take part in earlier pre-season matches as they seek to build upon their preparation and training.
In closing, Jonathan Raine summarised the great news – “We are embarking on a new journey, with a new team and in a new league. We can’t thank Smiths enough for believing in our vision for the future. We look forward to welcoming the Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning onto the ice in September.”
