David Lloyd Milton Keynes continue their long-term association with MK Lightning
MILTON KEYNES, 31 July 2019: Milton Keynes Ice Hockey Club are delighted to announce that long-term partner David Lloyd Clubs will be continuing their support of MK Lightning for the 2019/20 season.
David Lloyd Milton Keynes are once again opening their doors to Milton Keynes Lightning players, providing them with access to the gym and facilities to support their fitness and strength training – a number of the players are already becoming familiar faces around the club as they train during the off-season.
Based in Newlands and opposite Willen Lake; David Lloyd Milton Keynes has a fully-equipped gym, 18 tennis courts, badminton and squash courts, indoor and outdoor pools, spa, a variety of exercise classes and a range of children’s’ clubs and activities.
David Barker, David Lloyd Milton Keynes’ General Manager and no stranger to ice hockey himself having watched Peterborough over a number of years; commented “The relationship between David Lloyd Clubs and Lightning has been in place for some time now, it predates my arrival at the club and is something we are really pleased to continue. It is great that we are able to help a local team through use of our facilities and I know that a number of our staff enjoy heading on up to the rink to watch Lightning play”.
Lightning Head Coach, Lewis Clifford also recognises the importance of the relationship between David Lloyd Clubs and Lightning “It is so important in today’s game that players keep on top of their fitness, the facilities at David Lloyd Milton Keynes enable them to prepare for the season ahead and maintain their fitness throughout. If we happen to pick up a few injuries along the way, their facilities have proved invaluable in the rehabilitation of our players.

David Lloyd Milton Keynes is part of a large network of 99 clubs in the UK and a further 15 across mainland Europe. They have over half a million members and employ nearly 9,000 people, including an expert health and fitness team of over 2000 and more than 680 tennis professionals.
Their clubs have over 180 swimming pools and offer more than 13,000 exercise classes every week, they also boast 1000 tennis courts, and more than 400 badminton and squash courts.
It is a members’ club and while there are a number of sites, each club is unique.
