Leigh Jamieson marks 10 seasons at Lightning with summer testimonial

Milton Keynes born and bred Leigh Jamieson will mark ten seasons in Lightning colours with a testimonial game this summer.  ‘Jaimo’ will be joined by his hand-picked line-up of team-mates from a career spanning more than two decades - not just in MK but also at Elite and international level. The prestigious fixture will be played at Planet Ice MK on Saturday 20 August. Testimonial games are traditionally awarded to players reaching a milestone in their career, allowing them to celebrate with fans while enjoying an evening of not entirely serious hockey and high jinks. Leigh began his career here in his hometown progressing from MK Storm to MK Kings and then on to the Lightning - a member of the debut MKL team who scooped the Play Off trophy at the first attempt. In 2003 he joined the Elite League’s Belfast Giants for five years followed by a season with Coventry Blaze, a period that also saw him play for GB at U20 [...]

Keith Perry

Keith Perry,  It is with a heavy heart that we have been made aware of the passing of ex-MK Kings & MK Lightning official photographer Keith Perry. Keith was Lightning’s first official photographer when the club was formed until he stepped down with Jez Tibbetts taking over official duties from him for the 2002/03 season. If you were a fan of Kings or a fan in the early years of Lightning, you shall have seen Keith’s work in both local press & matchnight programmes. Before becoming a photographer (taking photos for a number of motorsport publications at a variety of different circuits, including Formula 1 at Silverstone), Keith was a proud former serviceman having served in the Royal Green Jackets regiment. Father to two daughters & a son, Keith & his wife of 48 years Gisella retired to Cyprus in 2007. Keith was one of those guys who after meeting him for the first time, you felt you had known him all of your [...]

Milique Martelly agrees two way with AIB MK Lightning

He had the best NIHL National debut, with assured, confident end to end play, and a Man of the Match award.  That’s why we couldn’t be more excited to reveal that Milique Martelly has agreed to a two way contract with AIB MK Lightning.  We are hugely grateful to Streatham IHC and their Head Coach Michael Farn for making this possible. 17 year old Milique started life as a roller hockey player, and first took to skates when he was just 18 months old.  He started playing competitive junior hockey around 7 years ago, and has developed quickly into one of the country’s top defensive prospects.   He has spent his entire career so far with Streatham, Captaining the U15 and U18 sides and managed to pick up over a point per game through his career, even at senior level in the NIHL 1, where he’s scored 1 goal and 8 assists in 8 games.  This is thanks to his mobility, confidence and willingness to [...]

MK LIGHTNING DELIGHTED TO HAVE OAKHILL VOICE SOLUTIONS’ SUPPORT FOR 2021/22

MK Lightning TV has developed a reputation for quality and reliability amongst ice hockey fans. This is by no means an accident, it is the result of investment and hard work. Streaming from inside the cold, humid metal structure that is Planet Ice MK comes with a few challenges as our resident commentator Chris Dickens would testify. Fortunately MKL has been supported for a number of years by local business Oakhill Voice Solutions who have repeatedly gone above and beyond to make sure that our data connectivity is in place for match nights. Coming after a period of disuse thanks to lockdowns, the start of this season brought unique challenges that needed a new fibre circuit provision and connectivity improvements. For those supporters who watch the Lightning TV stream, you are probably aware that reliable network bandwidth to the internet is needed to provide a smooth and quality viewing experience. It is Oakhill who make that possible, providing exceptional levels of service and support [...]
