Important information: Please note, that the underground carpark at Morrisons will now close at 8pm each night. This means that you will not be able to park in there for Saturday night hockey matches. There is plenty of above ground parking available around Morrisons so please use this instead. This decision has been taken by Morrisons due to a number of incidents of antisocial behaviour, and is in no way hockey related! We apologies for any inconvenience this will cause. Match Reports are brought to you in association with A2B Airport Transfers League topping Telford Tigers dealt a blow to Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning’s hopes of rising up the National Ice Hockey League at Planet Ice on Saturday. After matching, if not dominating, Tigers for two periods Lightning eventually succumbed to the Shropshire visitors’ better organised powerplay units to end up on the wrong end of a 5-2 scoreline in a game which marked the debut of new signing Taylor Dickin who had only flown into the country hours earlier. The turning point was probably Lightning’s inability to capitalise on a five on three penalty when Tigers’ captain Jason Silverthorn followed team mate Dominik Florian to the sin bin in the 33rd minute for a face off violation – the Czech going for cross checking. From then on Tigers’ confidence grew and when Cale Tanaka was called for slashing in the final minute of the second session Tom Watkins’ outfit successfully [...]
Last night's disappointing result vs. Leeds where we lost 4-1 in the game played at Coventry has come with some further bad news about the fitness of Robin Kovar. During the game, Robin sustained an impact injury to his ankle and unfortunately this has caused some damage. We are looking after Robin and will be fully supporting his rehabilitation which will need to take place off-ice for the foreseeable future. As you can imagine, Robin is super-frustrated by this setback, and will be back playing as soon as he can. He's in good spirits overall. We will release more news as when it's appropriate to do so. In the mean time, we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the rink this evening for our match vs. Raiders, where our boys will be digging in and driving to restore our good results. Thank you for your support.

Match Reports are brought to you in association with A2B Airport Transfers League leaders Telford Tigers were defeated by a super Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning for the second time in three weeks as the city side bounced back after Saturday’s loss to record a 6-3 win in Shropshire on Sunday. It meant that Lightning bagged three points out of a possible weekend four to continue to close the gap on the teams above them in the National Ice Hockey League. MK may still be seventh but the deficit on Sheffield Steeldogs one place above them is down to two points and they could have the chance to draw closer to fifth placed Hull Pirates, next Saturday’s opposition at Planet Ice, depending on other results. Jordan Lawday was handed netminding duties while Brandon Stones was back-up, returning from injury and Tom Carlon was also back. Lightning raced to a two goal lead by the first interval thanks to a brace of strikes [...]

Match preview Old foes do battle at Planet Ice for the second time this season when Peterborough Phantoms visit on Saturday to provide hockey fans with a break from the home-based Christmas festivities. Phantoms are the last team to beat Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning in the city. Since that 4-2 result on November 23 the Cambridgeshire outfit have had a mixed run of form, winning four and losing four of their encounters since the back end of November. Last weekend Slava Koulikov’s men handed out a 5-1 defeat to Bracknell Bees on Saturday but couldn’t repeat that kind of result the following night when they travelled to Romford and went down 6-2 to Raiders. Meanwhile Lightning kept up their winning run with back to back victories against Basingstoke Bison [...]
Match Reports are brought to you in association with A2B Airport Transfers A super James Griffin goal 1min 29secs into overtime sealed another fantastic four point weekend for Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning at Basingstoke Bison on Sunday. The 3-2 win completed a weekend double over the Hampshire effort, yet Lightning were just 31 seconds from defeat when Liam Stewart scored the equalising goal after goalie Jordan Lawday was pulled for the extra skater. It means Lightning are edging ever closer to the middle pack in the National Ice Hockey League – three points behind Sheffield Steeldogs who occupy sixth spot and six adrift of Hull Pirates in fourth. A month ago fourth place would have seemed an impossible target but having taken 14 points out the last 16 it now looks a realistic goal for MK. After a goal-less first period in which Lightning were forced to defend two spells short-handed, Griffin called for cross-checking and then Leigh Jamieson was given [...]
Robin Kovar signs for the rest of the season We're delighted the share the news that Robin Kovar has signed with Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning for the rest of the 2019/20 season. Robin has made a fantastic impact on the team since his arrival, bringing pace, skill, incredible skating and a teamwork ethic that has had a hugely positive effect on the dressing room. We're very pleased he will be staying with us. Commenting on the signing, Head Coach Lewis Clifford said "It's been easy to see the impact that Robin has had. He bagged 4 points in his very first game, and has gone on to grab 5 goals and 9 assists in 8 games and has been a big part of our run of great form. More than that though, he's a great guy to have around, with his fitness, professionalism and experience making him a good role model in the locker room. We're very happy to have him on board"
